Crop progress report 11/26: Excessive rain and unseasonably warm in Washington

From NASS There were 3.9 days suitable for fieldwork last week. Pasture and range conditions were reported at 15 percent very poor, 24 percent poor, 41 percent fair, 18 percent good and 2 percent excellent. A low temperature of 23 degrees F was reported in the east central region, while a high temperature of 70 degrees was reported in the southeast region. Statewide temperature differentials ranged from 4 to 12 degrees above normal. In the northwest region, there was a large amount of rain received, with flooding conditions on the Skagit River last week. Little to no field activity took place due to wet soils. Livestock were on feed. Some late season vegetable crops were still showing up from CSAs at co-ops and farmers markets. Christmas tree farms were very busy. In the central region, most cattle were on full feed and being moved to winter pastures. Winter wheat looked good. In the northeast region, daily rains hampered any late field work. There were no reports of excessive runoff or ditching. In the southeast region, the wet weather improved soil moisture, and crop and pasture conditions. The last of the apples were picked. Grain corn harvest continued, but was hampered by the weekly rains, which prevented it from drying down sufficiently.
