Crop progress report 0908: Scattered showers, autumn approaching in Washington

From NASS There were 6.3 days suitable for fieldwork in Washington last week, down from 6.7 days suitable the previous week. Western Washington was mostly dry, but received a few scattered showers through the week. Hay was still being baled. Blueberry harvest wrapped up, and most pastures had stopped growing. Whatcom County received rain later in the week. Corn for silage harvest began, and seed potatoes had vines killed in preparation of harvest. Hay bales in San Juan County were moved to dry storage or congregated on field storage sites. Apples, pears and plums were in season and harvested. Drought conditions continued. Kittitas and Yakima counties received no precipitation. Lincoln County had warm temperatures. Crops in Adams County remained about a week behind schedule. Dry bean harvest was underway, but the harvest period was stretching out.
